Six Festive Recipes for Mardi Gras

on

Laissez les bon temps rouler! Or, if your Cajun French is a little rusty – let the good times roll! We love Cajun food, and can’t think of a better reason to indulge in some of our faves than Mardi Gras. (Because if you can’t cook up a batch of pillowy doughnuts on Fat Tuesday, when can you?)

1.  Our Grilled N’awlins Shrimp Po’ Boy swaps fried shrimp for grilled, and features a creamy homemade remoulade. Plus at only 500 calories, it leaves plenty of room for the beignets below!

2. Is there anything easier than a one-pot pasta? This one from New Orleans native blogger Beth features chicken, a DIY Cajun seasoning blend and fire-roasted tomatoes for an easy dish that’s bursting with flavor.

3. The Creole cousin to the classic Italian Sub, the Muffuletta is the genius invention of Sicilian Immigrants to New Orleans. Just don’t skip the olive salad, as it’s key to the zesty flavor of this hearty sandwich!

4. Flavored with smoky Andouille sausage, the holy trinity of bell pepper, celery and onions, this hearty pot of Jambalaya is super comforting served with cornbread or rice. Just invite over some friends for dinner, as it makes a huge batch!

5. Okay, we couldn’t do a Cajun round-up without tacos – because lets face it, we LOVE tacos. Our Cajun Shrimp Tacos feature charred peppers, a refreshing slaw and crispy jalapeños for heat. Betcha can’t eat just one!

6.  Last but not least, we couldn’t forget about New Orlean’s signature sweet, the beignet. Whether you eat them plain, dusted with sugar, dipped in chocolate or served with a cup of Cafe du Monde’s famous Chicory Coffee, every bite is pure bliss. Get the recipe here.
